Join a highly skilled and committed Wardsperson Operations Team, where your role directly contributes to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient patient care environment. You will have the opportunity to implement effective ward practices, respond promptly to incidents, and ensure operational excellence within the patient care space.

About You

We are seeking a reliable, responsible, and patient-focused individual who is motivated to provide high-quality support in a hospital environment. You will be:

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with patient lifting, moving, and personal care
  • Perform cleaning duties, including terminal cleans and linen management
  • Maintain equipment and ward supplies, including oxygen cylinders
  • Support patient transfers, pharmacy collection, and cytotoxic waste handling
  • Follow PPE and WHS guidelines for cleaning chemicals
  • Complete documentation accurately and on time
  • Assist with mortuary transfers and support patient viewings
  • Uphold HNE Health values, the NSW Health Code of Conduct, and cultural respect initiatives

Ongoing training and supervision provided.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate

  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics in all aspects of patient care and ward operations
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, infection control practices, and safe handling of equipment and chemicals
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact with patients, visitors, and team members professionally
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and 24/7 coverage as required
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Reliability, honesty, and a strong work ethic
  • Previous experience in wardsperson, cleaning, portering, or patient care duties (desirable)
  • Commitment to workplace safety, patient wellbeing, and supporting a positive team culture
