Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking to appoint a Permanent Full-Time Staff Specialist in Medical Oncology** to join its established and integrated cancer service.
This is an opportunity to practise contemporary oncology within modern facilities, supported by a strong multidisciplinary team and a well-connected regional cancer network.
The Service
Tamworth Hospital is the major Rural Referral Hospital for North West NSW, with a $260 million acute services redevelopment completed in 2015. The hospital includes 348 treatment spaces and provides comprehensive specialist services across the region.

The **North West Cancer Centre (NWCC)** is co-located on site and delivers integrated:
- Medical Oncology
- Radiation Oncology
- Haematology
- 12 treatment chairs
- Over 2,400 infusion procedures annually
- Servicing the North West and New England regions
The Team
You Will Join a Collaborative Oncology Unit Consisting Of
- 2 Staff Specialist Medical Oncologists
- 1 Advanced Trainee
- 1 Ward SRMO
- 1 JMO
The Role
You will provide contemporary, comprehensive, and patient-centred oncology care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
Responsibilities Include
- Admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, and outpatient services
- Telehealth and outreach services (including Moree and Narrabri)
- Participation in the on-call roster
- Contribution to the general medical roster as required
- Clinical supervision and teaching of junior medical officers
- Active involvement in research and quality improvement initiatives
- Provide safe, effective, evidence-based specialist care
- Attend and participate in clinical handover
- Be available during rostered hours and on-call periods
- Contribute to service development within HNELHD
- Modern facilities within a major rural referral hospital
- Strong teaching and research programs

- Professional autonomy with strong executive support
Applicants Must Have
- A primary medical degree registrable with **AHPRA**
- **FRACP (Medical Oncology)** and/or eligibility via an overseas-trained specialist pathway
- Demonstrated recent and comprehensive experience in **Medical Oncology**
- Eligibility for specialist registration in Australia
